Seydel De-riveting Tool
Seydel De-riveting Tool
The improved rivet removal pliers are an upgraded version of the previous SEYDEL pliers used by harmonica customizers and repair technicians to remove reeds from reed plates.
The upgraded pliers are comfortable to hold and have an adjustable punch pin (one replaceable punch pin is provided). The SEYDEL rivet removal pliers allow efficient reed removal while reducing the chance of damage to the reed plate during rivet removal. The rivet head fits snuggly into the receiving jaw of the pliers insuring a direct and accurate punch on the opposing side of the reed plate. The hole left after rivet removal is perfect for a re-installing a rivet or for use of a SEYDEL screw.
Instructions:
The SEYDEL rivet removal pliers are the perfect tool for simple rivet and reed removal.
Holding the reed plate with the reeds facing upward and the rivets end closest to you, place the rivet head inside the hole in the reed removal pliers. The pliers should sit flush on the reed plate. This will insure perfect alignment of the punch on the opposite side of the plate.
Gently squeeze the pliers and the rivet will easily slide about halfway out of the reed plate (depends on the pre-setting of the punch of the pliers). Remove the rivet completely with pliers (if it is not yet detached completely). Attention: Excessive pressure or improper alignment of the pliers will damage the reed plate and pliers.
